Wilsonview Dairy will open the barn gate for visitors on Thursday, June 25, 2020, as a tour stop for the Annual Meetings of the American Jersey Cattle Association (AJCA) and National All-Jersey Inc. This year’s meetings are being hosted by Oregon Jersey breeders in Portland.
Farm owners and hosts, Don and Desi Josi and Derrick and Kaycee Josi, welcome members to tour the farm, take a pasture walk to see some of their favorite cows and talk Jersey with their peers, through the official tour or while they are in the area.
Breeders participating in the official agenda for the day will load the buses at the host hotel (DoubleTree Hotel Portland) and start their day with a tour of Tillamook County Creamery. They will then travel to Wilsonview Dairy, with arrival slated for 11:45 a.m. Lunch will be served at the Tillamook County Fairgrounds. Breeders have two options for afternoon tours (The Beach at Oceanside or Royalty Ridge Jerseys), followed by dinner and the AJCC Research Foundation Benefit Auction at Cal-Mart Dairy, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Josi family has been a strong supporter of the national Jersey organizations for many years. Don and Desi will be officially honored with the AJCA Master Breeder award at the Breeders’ Banquet held in conjunction with the annual meetings. Derrick and Kaycee will also be recognized with an AJCA Young Jersey Breeder award at the Young Jersey Breeders Banquet.
Wilsonview Dairy has been enrolled on the AJCA’s key performance program, REAP, since 1996. The herd ranks #16 in the nation for genetic merit with a herd average JPI of +88 (December 2019). Wilsonview Dairy has a 2019 lactation average (mature equivalent) of 19,916 lbs. milk, 919 lbs. fat and 693 lbs. protein, with a cheese yield of 2,387 lbs.
The Josis are continuing a dairying tradition that began with Don’s grandfather, Alfred, an indentured servant from Switzerland who emigrated in 1912 and began leasing the original 60-acre farm in 1916. Today the family farms 450 acres and milks about 400 Registered Jersey cows and two other breeds of dairy cattle.
Wilsonview Dairy has been a member of the Tillamook County Creamery for more than a century. The creamery pays premiums for components and milk quality and produces award-winning Tillamook cheese, ice cream and other dairy products.
Wilsonview Dairy has developed many Registered Jerseys of impact over the years. Many hail from the “M” cow family, which traces to Quicksilver Many Merrit, purchased from the Western National Jersey Sale in 1977. Twenty-eight bulls from this family have headed to A.I., including Wilsonview Khan Morgan-ET, Wilsonview Avery Max-ET and Wilsonview Jevon Magnum-ET.
